No pressure to work 100% from office and allows working time flexibility to suit goals/achievements outside of work. Inclusive culture and always seeking to make banker day to day roles/responsibilities more achievable and less taxing.

Great culture within teams with directors and senior management available and more than happy to engage and support the wider teams. General socialising amongst younger colleagues quite frequent and informal.
Graduate, Brisbane - 03 Sep 2024
Very inclusive culture
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
The team culture is super positive, people are always willing to help out and lend a hand. Everyone is extremely welcoming.
There can be some frustration with senior leadership and a lack of transparency around big decisions that affect the workforce.

There is quite an open and honest culture that has been cultivated at my company, in large part due to the CEO and their direct reports fostering this welcoming and open culture (a top-down approach). People don't tend to be too concerned with hierarchy, and needing to respect and not being able to question anything someone higher up in the hierarchy says.

In Talent & Culture, I find that that culture is awesome with excellent collaboration and teamwork, a great culture of speaking up and a positive culture of respecting and valuing diverse perspectives. For me, whatever team I am in, the teams are amazing at making you feel welcome and part of the team really quickly. There is also a great culture of socialising outside of work-related things, such as lunches, drinks after work and having a messaging channel outside of work to keep in touch and share over lives.

Everyone is willing to invest in your growth and development, providing opportunities to learn and have new experiences. Leadership teams are engaged with communicating across the entire bank. My team reaches out to me regularly, is inclusive across the division and supports team building.

In office - It is loud on most floors. If you can find a desk that's great. But since it is an open office space, you can be interrupted at any moment. There are times now that I think I'd be better off working in a quiet room, if I can find one. Booking meeting rooms is very difficult, I would say more so than booking desks. But since it is so hard to get individual work done, I often have to just surrender to what I would essentially categorise as socialising and do my real work at home. Which has created a lot of backlog for me. There are times where I do find being in the office is beneficial. But instead of being able to decide when that is best for me, I am now forced to be in the office on days where I am trade off being less productive overall. The mandate probably works for teams that are more collaborative on a day to day basis. But for my team, where we are given pieces of work we can complete on our own, and collectively put together. The mandate doesn't make sense. Our team already has days and meetings created to foster culture and community, so that's when we come together to structure ourselves. I think the mandate really doesn't help in teams like this, that already have that structure in place.
After hours - It's really team dependant but there are outings and team building is encouraged. Some of us having taken it upon ourselves to create little groups to have fun.

Generally I find the culture at ANZ to be pretty good. Majority of the people I have worked with has been super helpful and welcoming, and have provided me with great opportunities to learn and grow. Most of the socialising is done within work hours which is fine and I find that many people prefer to leave work/work event for in work hours and people don't often do things after hours. During the work hours teams work collaboratively, go out for lunches, do quizzes/events and put a real effort into creating an inviting and fun workplace.

The work life culture is amazing. No complaints.
Graduate, Melbourne - 26 Jun 2024
It is good. There is good cooperation and teamwork.
Graduate, Melbourne - 26 Jun 2024
Several of the teams I have worked with simply have a 'no dickhead' culture. The bankers that are customer facing are typically more extroverted and social. They like to blow off steam after work. Otherwise most have families and don't socialise much outside of work. In these cases, I would organise activities with the other graduates as we are all of similar age.
Most people I have come across don't pay too much attention to the organisational hierarchy, so long as you are respectful of the other person's time.

Agile ways of working, dress for your day, graduates friendly with each other, friendly and supportive colleagues,
Graduate, Melbourne - 25 Mar 2022
Everyone is very welcoming and makes an effort to get to know you as a person not just a worker. Good amount of socialising outside of work, not too much where it can be a bit all consuming, but definitely not lacking. Good amount of choice with what you might be looking for (i.e. if you're a very social person there are more options, but if you're more introverted there isn't much forced socialisation). Teamwork is great, people are very open to discussing ideas with you, and there doesn't feel like a whole lot of pressure to get things done by yourself.

Generally collaborative and supportive. Direct reporting managers and their line manager have been fantastic to work with and learn from, exemplifying the good culture the company tries to promote. The broader structure of the company leaves a lot to be desired. Often feedback from colleagues is that they never know whom to contact for particular issues or processes, leading to issues remaining untreated.
Graduate, Melbourne - 25 Mar 2022
Great cooperation and teamwork in my team as well as building a friendly relationship with my team. However, feel that sometimes marketing is misunderstood and our role is diminished or not prioritised
Graduate, Sydney - 22 Mar 2022
Supportive work culture with strong focus on development. Small team size which allows for personal connection.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jan 2022
Culture across the company is really good, with the exception of Brisbane office, which doesn't seem to have adopted the ICARE values and the ANZ ways of working/leading fully. Socializing is encouraged in the office and out of office which is good :)
Graduate, Brisbane - 24 Jan 2022
I think ANZ probably has the best culture from what I've heard of the big 4 banks. Everyone is really friendly/welcoming and happy to have a coffee catch-up with you as a graduate to help with your learning and development. After hours I think it varies depending on your team but I've had a really positive experience where there is a real sense of community.
Graduate, Sydney - 17 Jan 2022
Overall, the culture is fantastic at ANZ. There is a good balance of professionalism and fun. I personally found it difficult to integrate into a male-dominated team, and seem to prefer working with women, but other people have not had a problem with this team.
