As a graduate I normally have an even split between work for my current rotation and time set aside for me to engage in other learning and development. Normally, I'll have a few meetings to attend each day and my work tasks will be assigned during these meetings. I'll generally be involved in major pieces of work, but assigned to work on a small part of it that is manageable, and gives me the ability to learn more about the typical work I would complete if I worked in the given team permanently.
