2022 Technology Graduate Program
Our graduate programs are designed to challenge and reward. We help grow curious minds and develop careers for those motivated to make a positive difference for our customers and community. We're on the hunt for dynamic graduates who love workshopping ideas, are keen to embrace and explore innovation, and have exceptional taste in music (the last bit is optional...) We want people who aren't afraid to speak up, share their opinions, develop relationships and influence outcomes.
We're interested in people with diverse backgrounds, who are excited about joining a bank that's reinventing itself to address the complex challenges that society faces today, continuously raise standards in banking, and create opportunities for generations to come.
No matter where your career takes you, our Graduate program will provide you with the foundation you need to grow and succeed.
Take a leap in the right direction
One of the best ways to learn is to throw you into new experiences. Each of our key business areas in Australia and New Zealand have programs that offer multiple rotations. Our program will ensure you get 18 months of valuable 'real life' work experiences as well as exposure to a diverse range of people, environments and situations before moving into a permanent role within the bank. We also provide supportive coaching, peer-to-peer learning, mentoring, training, networking and sponsorship from senior leaders.
Want to put yourself in this picture?
The Technology Division at ANZ builds, procures and operates systems that enable ANZ to deliver banking services to over 6 million customers in Australia and around the world, processing billions of dollars every day. We have over 5,000 permanent employees in ANZ Technology globally, all working on different pieces of the puzzle, providing delightful financial experiences that are safe, secure, and simple to use. Our aim is to deliver Gr8CX@Scale.
It's not an easy task, and certainly comes with some challenges. Whether it's helping us enable lightning-fast payments or ensuring the continued stability of our online banking platform, there's always something to do.
What's involved?
As a Tech Grad, you'll be rotating through 3 roles in different areas of Technology areas. We've got a lot of different domains & tribes in our Technology division, with a range of different positions available for Grads to get involved in. This will let you explore a wide range of roles and support you to develop your breadth of knowledge of tech @ANZ.
We'll be supporting your rotations with a mix of skills development, regular one-on-one coffee catch-ups and plenty of pizza nights with other graduates. The Tech leaders tend to come to these nights too, so it's great to get their insights.
You'll get to work on a graduate project which lets you take ownership of a piece of work alongside your other talented graduates. You'll be supported by a project sponsor and a project coach but it'll be your team's project to deliver, or fail to deliver with. And that's okay too, because we celebrate learning from failures.
Don't worry, if it all sounds a bit scary. Being uncomfortable allows you to grow, and you have the full support of everyone around you. You don't have to know everything and have all the answers, we're all one big team looking at how we can solve some pretty tricky problems.
Here are some areas you might work in:
• Cloud Services
Learn the latest cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Istio and serverless on platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Azure. We just created a totally new area dedicated to it, with a plan to move the majority of our platforms there in the coming years. See for yourself how cloud is done safely, securely and at scale.
• Technology Operations
See how we keep the critical systems in our bank up and running around the clock? In a rotation in operations, you'll learn how we use monitoring and alerting tools to manage incidents and upgrade systems. Test yourself in constantly changing conditions, build resilience and develop communication skills in high stake situations, as you will often have to work with various teams across ANZ.
• Customer Experience
Want to design and build amazing experiences for iOS, Android or the web browser? Come and see how we deliver pixel-perfect experiences to our customers whilst making sure our designs are accessible, brand-compliant and user-friendly.
And a whole lot more - including working across our platforms to deliver automation and data analytics, supporting the enterprise by delivering great employee experience, business management and infrastructure as a service.
Enough about us. What about you?
We're looking to hire problem solvers who have a big picture view.
If you are interested in

Are you in?
We want to get to know you for who you really are, and don't believe that we can assess that by simply reading your resume or LinkedIn profile. This means that there's no need to send us a copy of your resume, or even your cover letter. Instead, we invite you to take part in a series of games which assess a range of cognitive abilities. That's it.
If you move to the next stage, we'll invite you to do a Personality Questionnaire. There are no right or wrong answers, we just want to learn more about how you prefer to work.
From here, you'll be invited to complete a digital interview (meaning you can interview from the comfort of home), where you record your answers to prompts in a series of short videos. Finally, we'd love to meet you in-person in our office where we have an assessment centre that includes an interview and role play. Along the way budding software engineers will also get a chance to test their skills.
This could be the perfect opportunity for you to take your career to the next level. Apply today and give it a go.

Our purpose is to shape a world where people & communities thrive. We're focused on the CX & putting them at the heart of everything we do
ANZ has a very collaborative culture. I feel that the staff have a corporate responsibility to nurture and educate their graduates.
Flexible work hours and reasonable expectations.
I got a lot of opportunities to grow my knowledge and skills and was able to leverage industry professionals.
The people are the best part about working at ANZ. Staff genuinely care for and support each other.
The best aspect of working at ANZ is the vast array of opportunities available, the fantastic people I work with, and the inclusive, supportive culture.
The 50% return-to-office mandate introduces punitive measures that significantly impact the flexibility we previously enjoyed.
Technology is a bit behind the market, and processes can be slow.
It can sometimes be a little challenging getting help when first getting started in a role.
There are also issues with too much bureaucracy and over-complication of processes to resolve issues.
We were not allowed to negotiate even if our new managers wanted to. This was all done in fairness, but it really didn’t feel fair.
