DISCIPLINES AND MAJORS FOR FINANCE GRADUATES

For the 2022 Finance graduate intake, we're looking to broaden the backgrounds we traditionally take our graduates from. While Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business and Commerce remain important, more and more of what we do in Finance is driven by technology and data. As a result, we're interested in the following disciplines /majors:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Economics
  • Econometrics
  • Business or Commerce
  • Technology or Computing and Software Systems
  • Data Science
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Engineering
  • Sciences

A double discipline is desirable but not essential and a high grade point average will make for a competitive application in this program.

DESIRABLE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Academic achievement in relevant fields of study is important; we also look for personal attributes that will help you thrive in our working environment. The nature of our work is always changing, so having people who demonstrate resilience and adaptability are great assets. It's not always easy, but we need people who embrace a challenge. Being curious, bold and seeking new ways of doing things are the attributes we look for in addition to working collaboratively. We love new ideas and external perspectives!

Our finance graduates who have succeeded in the long term who have come through this program embrace diversity, are passionate about our customers, curious about the business we are in and love working collaboratively to develop and deliver better outcomes.

ARE YOU IN?

We want to get to know you for who you really are, and don't believe that we can assess that by reducing your experiences to a page. This means that there is no need to send us a copy of your resume, or even your cover letter! Instead, we invite you to take part in a series of games that assess a range of cognitive abilities.

That's it! If you move to the next stage, we will invite you to do a Personality Questionnaire. There are no right or wrong answers, we just want to learn more about how you prefer to work. From here, you will be invited to do a digital interview (meaning you can interview from the comfort of your home), where you record your answers to prompts in a series of short videos.

Finally, we would love to meet you in person in our office where we have an assessment centre that includes an interview and a role play. This could be the perfect opportunity for you to take your career to the next level - apply today and give it a go!

Pros and cons of working at ANZ

Pros

  • ANZ has a very collaborative culture. I feel that the staff have a corporate responsibility to nurture and educate their graduates.

  • Flexible work hours and reasonable expectations.

  • I got a lot of opportunities to grow my knowledge and skills and was able to leverage industry professionals.

  • The people are the best part about working at ANZ. Staff genuinely care for and support each other.

  • The best aspect of working at ANZ is the vast array of opportunities available, the fantastic people I work with, and the inclusive, supportive culture.

Cons

    • The 50% return-to-office mandate introduces punitive measures that significantly impact the flexibility we previously enjoyed.

    • Technology is a bit behind the market, and processes can be slow.

    • It can sometimes be a little challenging getting help when first getting started in a role.

    • There are also issues with too much bureaucracy and over-complication of processes to resolve issues.

    • We were not allowed to negotiate even if our new managers wanted to. This was all done in fairness, but it really didn’t feel fair.
