Get to where you need to be. Sooner

ANZ’s award-winning graduate programs are specifically designed to fast-track the career you have been working so hard towards. You’ll be in the express lane from day one as every graduate is hand-picked and hired to fill a genuine business need. Then when you cross the finishing line, a job will be waiting for you in an area of your choice - along with a healthy “end-of-program” pay rise.

Things move fast at ANZ as we’re doing the important work that only one of Australia’s biggest banks with a global network can tackle. But don’t worry, we’re a nice bunch of people so you won’t be expected to have all the answers up front.

Instead, six monthly rotations will open your eyes to what’s possible at ANZ and what’s the best path for you to take. And the 18 or 24 months you spend on the program will be jam packed with learning and networking opportunities to set you up with the contacts, confidence, and expertise to turbo charge your career.

Each of our key business areas in Australia and New Zealand have programs that offer multiple rotations, including our Technology Division.

About the Technology Program

As a Tech Grad, you’ll be rotating through 3 different Technology areas across 18 months.

We’ve got a variety of different domains & tribes within Technology, across areas like Security, Infrastructure & Cloud, Technology Operations, Customer Experience, Data analysis and Engineering with a range of different roles for Grads to get involved. This will let you develop your breadth and knowledge of technology@ANZ.

The program will expose you to a range of skill development opportunities within your role,  combined with dedicated learning sessions. You will have opportunities to meet and hear from some senior people across ANZ that you’ll love to learn from. We will support you with regular one-on-one catch ups with the Tech grad program managers, your team manager as well as the graduate alumni.

“After studying Computer Systems Engineering at university, I wanted to pursue a career in STEM but wasn’t sure where to begin. Joining the ANZ Technology Graduate program was a great opportunity to experience not only 3 areas of Tech at ANZ but also 3 different role types! This flexibility allowed me to grow a range of technical and non-technical skills which helped narrow down the type of work I enjoy the most.” reflects Alexandra Andela one of our current Tech Grads who is about to transition into her permanent role”.

Tech underpins everything we do at ANZ, whether its supporting the branch network or online with internet banking and mobile banking we’re constantly adapting to what our customers and community need. Some of the types of work you might get to do on the grad program include:

  • Working across our platforms and often within global teams, to deliver automation and data analysis, supporting the enterprise by delivering great employee experience, business management and infrastructure as a service.
  • Build amazing experiences for iOS, Android or the web browser. Come and see how we deliver pixel perfect experiences to our customers whilst making sure our designs are accessible, brand compliant and user-friendly.
  • In the world of frequent security threats, learn how to protect ANZ customers and the bank.
  • Having the opportunity to learn coding from the basics to complex algorithms, whilst developing your engineering career pathway.
  • Exciting work with teams migrating our technology platforms to the cloud, limitless data analytics and a modern engineering environment, cloud is delivering a seismic shift inside ANZ.
  • Join a range of learning bites sessions hosted by Talent and Culture and other Tech teams.
  • Collaborate on a graduate project which lets you take ownership of a piece of work alongside your other talented Graduates. You’ll be supported by a project sponsor and a project coach, but it’ll be your team’s project to deliver (or do your best to!).
  • The opportunity to work with your graduate cohorts across Australia & India.
  • Embrace ANZ’s culture of learning agility!

Pros and cons of working at ANZ

Pros

  • ANZ has a very collaborative culture. I feel that the staff have a corporate responsibility to nurture and educate their graduates.

  • Flexible work hours and reasonable expectations.

  • I got a lot of opportunities to grow my knowledge and skills and was able to leverage industry professionals.

  • The people are the best part about working at ANZ. Staff genuinely care for and support each other.

  • The best aspect of working at ANZ is the vast array of opportunities available, the fantastic people I work with, and the inclusive, supportive culture.

Cons

    • The 50% return-to-office mandate introduces punitive measures that significantly impact the flexibility we previously enjoyed.

    • Technology is a bit behind the market, and processes can be slow.

    • It can sometimes be a little challenging getting help when first getting started in a role.

    • There are also issues with too much bureaucracy and over-complication of processes to resolve issues.

    • We were not allowed to negotiate even if our new managers wanted to. This was all done in fairness, but it really didn’t feel fair.
