ARUP has a charitable arm dedicated to non-profitable international development projects, such as helping with natural disaster relief or working on refugee re settlement. All projects are viewed though a social lens, with impacts on the environment and broader community, not just the client, considered.

Arup partners with the Smith Family, Engineers without Borders, RedR and the Shared Value Project for various events and match fundraising. There is a community engagement committee that allows Arup to use a portion of the income to help the most disadvantaged, marginalised, and vulnerable communities. The committee runs events such as Habitat for Humanity builds, cooking and serving for a local charity providing free meals to those in need, Hutt St Centre homelessness awareness event and fundraiser, and many others.

Arup has a very strong commitment CSR, with a key feature being the allocation of a portion of profits towards community engagement activities such as providing engineering or consulting services to charities and disaster relief. Graduates are encouraged to become involved with the company's community engagement initiatives. Participation in charitable activities such as donating blood, financial donations and fundraising activities is also encouraged and team or office level involvement in these is common throughout the year.

Arup participates regularly in community probono projects or work, our particular group have volunteered to local soup kitchens and community support work such as tree planting, flood relief support and rubbish clean ups. The teams also invite less privileged students from schools to activity days within the office.

I think Arup has a very good commitment to CSR. We partner with several not-for-profit engineering organisations (like Engineers Without Borders) for projects, often with a 50/50 or 60/40 pro bono to paid work. Other organisations include Pollinate Energy and CFAT. We also donate to organisations where Arup matches the donations made by staff. We also fundraise for the Smith Family Organisation during Christmas time.
