The world's energy markets are transforming. The global trend to reduce carbon emissions has seen a renewed focus on commercialising sustainable energy sources, improving infrastructure and improving efficiency.

Aurecon's energy team works across the full spectrum of the energy supply chain – from generation, transmission and distribution to retail – and engages with stakeholders from investors and technology providers through to communities and regulators, we touch each of the elements that will impact the transition to a low carbon energy economy.

We work collaboratively with our clients to add value throughout the entire lifecycle of their businesses and assets, from advisory through to operation and maintenance.

Who are we?

Aurecon is more than an engineering, design and advisory company.

The Australian Financial Review (AFR) named us Australasia's Most Innovative Company and Most Innovative Professional Services Company for 2020. We were also honoured to win the AFR's Top 100 Graduate Employers 'Most Popular Engineering and Resources Employer Award' for the second year in a row, and we made top 10 in the Top 100 Most Popular Graduate Employers list.

Hardwired in our DNA are engineering, design and the deep need to leave a legacy. We believe humanity depends on engineering; and we recognise we have a broader stewardship role to play. A deep responsibility to hold. As we continually strive for a life in balance, Aurecon clients will be ready for the future and engineered for life.

What makes us unconventional?

The people who design a better future for humanity are brave new thinkers like you.

We need you to draw upon unconventional ideas and piece together solutions to complex challenges.

From designing a breakthrough solar-powered water treatment plant that provides drinking water to Indigenous and remote communities across Australia, to using digital technology to plan and restore safe transport access to communities in New Zealand after major landslips. To revitalising and transforming a Hong Kong historical landmark into a place of creativity and learning for generations to come.

Join us and together we'll make an impact that shifts the world. Check out our graduate campaign video for more information.

Aurecon have been very supportive when it comes to allowing me to work during my semesters at uni, however it is hard to understand what is going on sometimes as I experience major time jumps with projects due to my hours. I am mostly given admin tasks at the moment but context is given with most of it so it helps me to feel like I am helping the broader picture.

Pros and cons of working at Aurecon Australia

Pros

  • I have a lot of flexibility and we work on tier one projects.

  • The best thing about my job is the flexibility it offers. I really appreciate the option to work hybrid.

  • Everyone is extremely supportive and helpful. Yet to meet a person that wouldn't assist me.

  • My team has a beautiful diversity - including leadership. I think I am having exceptionally high proportion of projects I really enjoy.

  • Opportunities to work on a broad range of projects, both locally and interstate/internationally.

Cons

    • Lack of work especially for grads. Unrealistic utilization expectations.

    • Unstable workflow at times, very demanding hours during peak periods.

    • Graduate training seems to be highly reliant on the quality of your projects/team leaders.

    • Expectation to work unpaid overtime.

    • The promotion decisions were not made in a transparent manner, and there seems no clear requirement for each level.
