The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) are seeking applications from diverse and talented Australians to help collect information, connect the dots and play a crucial role in providing advice to government on matters of national security.

We are looking for

Intelligence Officers

As an Intelligence Officer you will have the opportunity to develop a diverse career in both operational and analytical areas across ASIO. Whilst working in operational areas, Intelligence Offers often meet with members of different communities to mitigate security threats, while also building ongoing confidential relationships with people to assist us in achieving our security intelligence mission. Intelligence Officers also undertake postings in analytical roles.

As an ASIO intelligence Officer, you will be trained in the skill of collecting and analysing complex information to produce well considered security intelligence advice to government. You will become adept at growing and enhancing relationships and partnerships, and providing regular written and verbal briefings and advice to a range of stakeholders across government.

Following successful completion of our 12 month Canberra based training program, Intelligence Officers participate in three to five year role postings where they may move between analytical and operational roles across a number of geographical locations.

Intelligence Analysts

As an Intelligence Analyst you will have the opportunity to develop a diverse career across a range of specialised analytical areas. You will identify and investigate patterns and anomalies, draw intelligence value from large volumes of information, solve complex problems and produce high quality advice for government. You will drive ASIO investigations, undertake research, make assessments and develop in-depth knowledge of specific issues.

Intelligence Analysts will apply best-practice analytical tradecraft together with subject-area expertise to be able to provide actionable advice on critical issues relevant to national security – often in high tempo environments.

To be successful in this role you will be expected to use your well-developed communication and people skills to work collaboratively in teams, provide high quality advice and form strong working relationships with internal, domestic and foreign partners, clients and stakeholders.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an Intelligence Professional role, you must:

• have completed formal tertiary qualifications before December 2021

and/OR

• be able to demonstrate work/life experience relating to the job specific capabilities listed above.

In addition to the above you must:

• be an Australian Citizen
• be willing to relocate to Canberra (removalists costs are met by ASIO); and
• be assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Positive Vetting security clearance.

For the Intelligence Officer role:

• you must be willing to be mobile throughout your career as an Intelligence Officer. This means potentially relocating to an Australian capital city every three to five years, noting the location will be determined by ASIO, based on organisational need.
• some roles may require an Australian driver's licence (Class C).
