Nimna

After lunch I return to work. On the days I’m in the office I make the most of my trip and pop into the labs with my line manager to get a look at some of the components I’m working on.

5.30 AM

Wake up and get ready for the day ahead of me – this includes drinking a large cup of coffee and telling my cats to behave while I’m not at home.

6.30 AM

Time to start my commute to work – I take a train into the city and then a tram out.

8.15 AM

Arrive at work and greet my line manager (who is always there before me). I log in and check my emails and do any tasks that require immediate action. I also take the time to check my calendar to see if I have any meetings during the day. When I’m at my desk I say hi to those who walk in and engage in workplace banter every now and then.

10.00 AM

Time to refuel! The team heads to the nearby café for a coffee break. While I acquire my cup of coffee I catch up and chat with people in the office I normally wouldn’t get to see much. We then head back into the office with coffee in hand and continue our work day.

12.30 PM

Is it lunch time already? Depending on my schedule I usually head out to the nearby food court and indulge in a rice bowl, sometimes I swing by Coles to get a bottle of juice for an extra kick to power through the rest of the workday.

1.00 PM

After lunch I return to work. On the days I’m in the office I make the most of my trip and pop into the labs with my line manager to get a look at some of the components I’m working on. Afterwards I head back to my desk and continue working on reports and calculations.

3.30 PM

Nearing the end of the workday I check my to-do list and update it. I also make sure to communicate my progress with my line manager. Sometimes we discuss the work I’ve done so far and my thought processes. This is where he provides feedback and I plan out the next steps for the task I’m working on.

5.00 PM

It’s time to pack up. I put my laptop into my bag and say goodbye to the people in the office. I head to the tram stop and sometimes I’ll bump into a fellow grad who's also taking the tram into the city.

5.30 PM

Once I arrive in the city I catch the train home – sometimes I catch up with a friend for dinner (nothing like some KBBQ after a long work day).

6.30 PM

I arrive at home and check on my cats who don’t seem all too excited about my presence until I offer them some treats.

7.30 PM

I eat dinner and catch up on social media. I then read a book or watch a few episodes of true crime series on Netflix. Sometimes I have a virtual movie night with some friends and other times I work on my drawing skills.

9.30 PM

Depending on whether I’m in the office of WFH the next day, I pack my bag and have everything ready to go so I don’t have to worry about it the next morning.

10.30 PM

At this time I realise that it’s probably time to get some sleep. I double check that I have set my alarm for 5:30 am and tuck myself into bed.

Goals for your future at BAE:

My goals are fairly short-term for the time being. Right now I want to develop my skills as a mechanical engineer and then see where I want to go from there.
