Our Indirect Tax team help clients to navigate the complex and wide-ranging area of (Goods and Services Tax) GST and other Indirect Taxes (i.e. stamp duty, land tax), helping them to achieve compliance with laws and regulations, and provide advice to minimise the impact, and avoid any pitfalls for businesses when these taxes apply in different circumstances, for example throughout a business or commercial transaction.

What you’ll do:

As an Indirect Tax Graduate at BDO, you can expect to:

  • Develop technical expertise across a variety of indirect taxes including GST, fuel tax credit, stamp duty, payroll tax and luxury car tax.
  • Learn how to provide advice on cutting-edge indirect tax issues to a prestigious client base.
  • Develop your client management skills by attending meetings and dealing directly with client queries.

What you’ll offer:

  • You will be in your final year or have recently completed an Accounting, Economics, Law or other relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Your ability to commence full-time in January 2025.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
