Join BDO as a Vacationer in our Indirect Tax team in either June 2024, November 2024 or January 2025!  

BDO is one of the world’s leading audit, accounting, advisory and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.  

As a Vacationer you’ll see firsthand how our Indirect Tax team help clients to navigate the complex and wide-ranging area of (Goods and Services Tax) GST and other Indirect Taxes (i.e. stamp duty, land tax), helping them to achieve compliance with laws and regulations, and provide advice to minimise the impact, and avoid any pitfalls for businesses when these taxes apply in different circumstances, for example throughout a business or commercial transaction. 

Your experience will vary day to day, but you can expect to develop you expertise across a variety of indirect taxes (i.e. GST, fuel tax, stamp duty, payroll, luxury car tax etc.), learn about how we provide advice to clients.

What you’ll offer:  

  • Your knowledge from your current studies in Accounting, Economics, Law or other relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree. You will be in your penultimate or final year!   
  • Your availability to commence in either June 2024, November 2024 or January 2025 for 4-8 weeks. Length of program and available intakes may vary in each location.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
