Great approach to diversity - the office has a range of people from different backgrounds and you are encouraged to be yourself.

The firm has a range of policies and diversity and inclusion committees both in Australia and globally. These committees work very hard and support diversity and inclusion including with respect to women, ethnic minorities, the LGBTIQA+ community and people living with disabilities. There are initiatives such as public holiday swaps, parental leave policies, health insurance which covers partners and children and return to work mentoring for parents returning to work after parental leave. However, there are areas where more could be done. There could be more education on diversity and inclusion implemented for staff at all levels, further commitment to gender pay parity, and further cultural change to better support staff.

Clifford Chance sees inclusion as an intrinsic value of the firm and creates space for and encourages graduates and junior lawyers to be directly involved and take active roles in its diversity, inclusion and responsible business initiatives. Clifford Chance in Sydney received numerous awards for inclusion, including the recognition as AWEI "Gold" employer for two consecutive years.

I believe this firm has a diverse and inclusive culture, although there are still issues with retaining women in more senior positions. It is a difficult career to balance having kids and this firm also has its challenges with regards to this issue.

The firm's policies are excellent. Initiatives such as ACCEPT (active recruitment of LGBT+ students), cultural diversity and indigenous recognition initiatives and gender equity goals all go towards making a strongly inclusive, constantly improving culture.

CC is second to none when it comes to diversity. I see people from all backgrounds here and there is always something going in the firm raising awareness for minorities and LGBT. There are also excellent policies when it comes to child care and maternity leave.

Good focus on diversity and inclusion and large proportion of juniors are female or non white individuals. Issue with senior women staying in roles and supporting them when they have families, partly due to the current management rather than the firm itself.
Graduate, Perth - 05 Jan 2023
Great LGBT and female representation at a junior level. However there has been a significant exit of senior women from the firm which needs to be addressed. There is also a lack of female parents. Culturally, the firm is quite diverse despite not having strong BIPOC representation.

The office is definitely diverse. We have a special LGBTI group within the firm. There are people that work part time. Maternity leave is 18 weeks paid.. There is a lot of mobility within the Clifford Chance network and lots of people that have moved to international offices.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
In my view, there are not many low privilege people at the firm.

Scholarships and donations.

Blind interviews where identifying information is removed from resumes so as not to favour those from more privileged backgrounds.
