We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineering student to join our Major Projects team based in Taupō for an internship this summer! Our Major Projects team provides effective front-end planning support and project execution delivery. We have an ambitious investment pipeline featuring several capital projects that will undergo a thorough and well structured front-end planning process to ensure their successful implementation. These are projects that consist of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar, Wind, and Geothermal, some of which are sources of renewable energy that we’re delivering for the first time - pretty cool right? The Major Projects team work in a dynamic and complex project environment where everyday is different. While it can be fast paced and challenging at times, it is also exciting and a lot of fun. What will you be doing?
Well, you’ll spend the summer learning about how we create renewable energy sources, and build and deliver a range of power generation projects. As a Civil Engineer Intern you’ll get exposure to a raft of different civil aspects associated with a geothermal power station platform such as earthworks and associated erosion and sediment control, storm water, roading and pavements and structures related to pipe culverts. You’ll also provide technical support for construction activities, focusing on improvements in technology and processes to ensure reliable, efficient, economical, and safe operations. You’ll learn the ins and outs of project work packages, including technical requirements for equipment and material procurement, construction scope of works, and quality assurance and quality control. You'll also collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, providing a chance to network and build some great relationships Most importantly, you’ll be part of a team that takes true pride in project delivery and is working on projects that will leave a lasting legacy for Aotearoa.

What to Expect | Ngā haepapa
Our summer internship program starts with a virtual induction where you’ll learn about our Contact story. You’ll connect with other interns and graduates, and meet some of our leaders who will share some insights on the program and what to expect. Throughout the internship, you’ll have assigned tasks, responsibilities and projects to complete. You’ll also be enrolled in an online learning pathway with eLearning modules to complete over the summer, and you’ll have a dedicated buddy to help support you along the way.
