Khairuna Maniar

I feel happy to have my internship experience in Lalamove because you don't have to graduate in visual communication design. As long as you're passionate and excited about our mission, you'll be perfectly right in!

What do you do at your job?

Driven by the Lalamove mission to empower SMEs around cities in Indonesia, I worked as a part of the Marketing Team. The immediate aim of our job is to design innovative marketing programs that will deliver impact for our users and drivers. One of my jobs is to create visualizations of ideas to inspire and inform both users and drivers through virtual or physical art.

I got a lot of insight from our mentor in Lalamove to craft an idea by using various designs and developing the way I communicate ideas by combining art and technology. Collaborating with other departments in each city opened my horizon about how complex the system is in a startup. It makes me learn to think about the way I deliver information that is easy to understand.

As time went by as a Graphic Designer Intern for a month, my mentor allowed me to explore my design skills by creating a design from scratch. It's nice to have a place to experiment and learn a lot about graphic design.

What's your background?

I'm not a design or communication graduate. But I have been passionate about design. My love for design continued when I started my college life. I learn about design by being a volunteer in the campus organization and community.

In the beginning, I learned a lot about motion graphics by using Adobe After Effect. Since I did an internship, I developed my creativity by creating graphic designs using Adobe Illustrator.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Absolutely yes, maybe some people think I crossed my path as a public health graduate. But the truth is, when I was in college, I learned about Marketing - mostly about people's behaviour. It helped me a lot in understanding the target and creating powerful visualization.

For me, in this era, everyone can pursue their dream, whatever their background is. People are developing, maybe today, I am working as a graphic designer, but no one knows in the future I can be more than a graphic designer just like I am today.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

Working as a Graphic Designer Intern requires me to continue to learn and find out a lot about many things. I feel developed to learn other things, explore digital drawing, explore illustration, and learn many other things that I can understand. More than that, working as a Graphic Designer taught me to see things from a different point of view. Although sometimes tiring and boring, I enjoyed the learning process.
