Maven implements both fundamental and quantitative trading & market making strategies across global financial markets, utilising only the group's capital. We see ourselves just as much a technology firm as a multi-strat trading firm. We have an informal, friendly and highly rewarding culture, with a relaxed dress code and frequent social events.
As a Trader graduate, you will complete an intensive 12-month training program run by our most talented traders, including classroom sessions, mock trading, project work and programming courses. We will teach you the skills to trade with the latest available tools. You will rotate through a number of desks before you find your ideal team, and we aim to give you responsibility for the profit and loss of your book as soon as you are ready.
We are looking for penultimate or final year applicants from any quantitative background with a competitive nature and a strong understanding of probability and statistics to join our Graduate Trader Program. You will have the opportunity to start in either August 2021 or August 2022.
Applications open on 22nd February 2021
Started with a mixture of group training exercises, classroom sessions and simulation training during grad training. Now I trade live on the market throughout the day and are in control of my own book which I am responsible for. Spend time during the day thinking about ways to optimize my setup and improve my strategy via analysis.
Day to day I am trading, which involves writing, monitoring and adjusting parameters to trading software while monitoring live trades and news. After trading closes, I write software or analyse data, usually in python.

Stimulating, meritocratic, intense
Flat Hierarchy, causal dress code, caring culture
Friendly environment, everyone very willing to teach and help out. Every day is different depending on news.
Small, young, meritocratic, lots of room for progression, fun coworkers
Lots of really smart people who are always happy to teach you. Challenging job, tons to learn. Company growing really fast, so opportunities to genuinely contribute. Great pay + perks.
The intellectual challenge. Constantly being pushed to learn new ideas which makes everyday interesting and stimulating. Doing it as part of the grad team has been really good fun as you all work together towards the same goals.
Intensity isn't for everyone
Fast-paced, which means you have to make sure you are keeping up
Early mornings, quite periods interspersed with busy so not as regular flow compared to other jobs.
Long hours (although not relative to say investment banking) and you have to stay focused all day (not a lot of downtime)
It's hard work and intellectually difficult, which can be tiring.
