Our Program

Ramsay's unique two-year program is designed to empower and support your development as you transition into the nursing field. During the program you will:

  • First Year: Transition smoothly into your professional nursing career with our comprehensive support system. We understand the unique challenges that come with starting your career, and we're here to provide tailored guidance and mentorship every step of the way. Gain the confidence and practical experience you need to excel in your clinical practice and thrive in the dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Second Year: Take ownership of your role while simultaneously exploring diverse professional development paths.  Tailor your journey with options like on-the-job skill enhancement, scholarships for continuing education, postgraduate studies, or the Enrolled to Registered Nurse transition program.

Specialties & Rotations Available

Build a versatile skillset and accelerate your career by rotating through a variety of clinical areas or sites, including:

  • Perioperative: Get hands-on experience in the operating room, working in post-anaesthesia care (PACU), assisting with anaesthetics, or as a scrub scout.
  • General Medical/Surgical: Gain experience in both medical and surgical units, caring for patients with a variety of conditions before, during, and after surgery.
  • Mental Health: Choose to focus on specialised mental health care or combine it with rotations in other areas.
  • Rehabilitation: Help patients recover from illness or injury, with options to specialise in rehab or gain experience across other units.
  • Maternity: Support women and families through the entire maternity journey, from antenatal care to labor and delivery to post-natal care.
  • Critical Care: Learn advanced skills and provide specialised care to critically ill patients in a supportive, high-acuity environment.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be passionate about providing high-quality care to patients and their families.
  • On track to completing or have completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery within the past 18 months.
  • Be eligible for AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Midwife.
  • Hold full Australian work rights.

Pros

  • The support that has been given since I started. I have had the opportunity to work in different business areas and I feel that sometimes my opinion is valued.

  • A good blend of autonomy and support throughout the graduate program.

  • The educational growth pathways eg Grad certs available through Ramsay. Many programs are available if you want to change roles.

  • Flexibility with rostering and shifts, being able to maintain a work life balance. Constantly learning and developing skills/knowledge.

  • The amazing support I have had from day 1 from my colleagues, the graduate coordinators and the management teams in each area which has contributed to my professional growth as a nurse.
