Overview

  • Gain your Master of Teaching while earning a full salary
  • Put your STEM degree to use, teaching the next generation essential skills
  • Take up a position in a school serving a community where you are most needed
  • Become part of our community of leaders committed to educational inequity in Australia

About the position

When you join Teach For Australia’s Leadership Development Program as an Associate, inspire young minds in amazing communities across Australia.

During the two-year program, you’ll undertake your Master’s degree while teaching subject areas directly related to your previous studies at secondary schools serving low socioeconomic communities.

You’ll develop and hone your skills on a personal, professional, and academic level and become the exceptional leader you’re meant to be – all while helping to create lasting social change by breaking the cycle of educational inequity in Australia.

Over two years, you will:

  • Teach at a school serving a low-socioeconomic community with full salary and benefits
  • Earn a Master of Teaching (Secondary) (Leading Learning) through ACU on an assisted scholarship
  • Receive one-on-one coaching and mentoring to accelerate personal, professional and academic
    growth.

As a leader in the classroom, you’ll share your passions with young people and act as a role model and mentor. You’ll develop the skills and experience to enable you to lead effectively, with the opportunity to make a tangible positive impact on students, schools and communities every single day.

About Teach For Australia

As it stands, not every child in Australia has access to the education they deserve: children from the lowest-income households are on average three years behind in school.

Teach For Australia seeks to break the cycle of educational inequity, to level the playing field for young people across Australia.

We do this by recruiting and developing exceptional people to teach and lead across Australia.

About you

Before you apply for the Leadership Development Program, you’ll need to:

  • Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of applying
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a discipline other than teaching
  • Be willing to accept a placement within the state or territory where we currently operate
  • Be able to enrol in at least two learning areas (the subjects you are qualified to teach) Maths, Physics, Engineering, Science, English/Literature and LOTE degree holders are especially encouraged to apply.

Please note that we close learning areas progressively as we meet demand.

We currently place program ‘Associates’ in schools in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory.
