About the position

  • You will complete minor projects as required, and gain experience in investigations, design, project management, construction and maintenance, assets management, operations, and other activities associated with the provision of engineering services in local government.
  • The salary range for this position is $63038.90-68282.40 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • This is a temporary full-time position and you will be required to complete a minimum of four units of study per academic year.
  • 100% study reimbursement is available for the successful completion of each subject.
  • The Cadet will work on a full-time basis whilst studying part/full time
  • This position will rotate through Toowoomba Regional Council Branches to assist with project exposure, enhancing training and development needs.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

You will need:

  1. The mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Position Success Criteria' in the Position Description (attached).
  2. Developing professional interest in the provision of engineering services within the local government function.
  3. Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise own work as well as capability to assist in establishing the objective of a minor works project.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (oral and written form) with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  5. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
  6. Demonstrated computer literacy skills.
  7. Understanding of and commitment to the Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
