Commencing our programme in February 2024, you will be part of a cohort of 30 Engineering Graduates with various majors. You will gain a range of skills and put theory and first principles into practice while doing important work with a variety of different teams over your two-year rotational placement plan.
You'll receive coaching and mentoring from our technical experts to build your knowledge of Power System careers at Transpower. You will experience real work from day one!
As a Transpower Graduate you will gain a range of skills and put theory and first principles into practice as you play a part in shaping the future of New Zealand's electricity industry.
Based at our Wellington head office you will complete a circa two-year rotational programme, including a range of tactical and operational engineering placements in our Transmission Lines, Substations and Primary Assets teams, including Cost Estimation. You'll likely experience all stages of the project lifecycle from conception to delivery, through to planning maintenance of the assets.
Building relationships across the business, you'll rotate through different engineering areas. You'll spend time in placements with Service Providers and/or Engineering Consultants, visit sites to gain technical understanding and depth, and develop outstanding people skills along with a good awareness of internal and external customer needs. Ultimately, you'll explore where and how you wish to shape your engineering career with us.
By December 2023 you will hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical engineering or other relevant discipline e.g., Mechatronics, or Civil Engineering or you may be completing your masters or further study in a relevant field.
You'll have achieved/are achieving a B+ average or GPA of 5.5 or above in your studies and demonstrate curiosity, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and active listening.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills will support your love of detail-orientated work/study, but conversely, you'll have an interest in the future of energy, be broad minded, and see challenges as opportunities.
