Over my 25-year journey at Unilab, from starting as an Assistant QA Inspector to now serving as an Assistant Manager in the Medical and Regulatory Group of Unilab Consumer Health, I have experienced the transformative power of Bayanihan and Husay at Malasakit

Role in Unilab

I am an Assistant Manager in the Medical and Regulatory Group of Unilab Consumer Health (ULCH). I supervise my team in handling the regulatory aspects of ULCH products such as registration with the FDA, packaging compliance, and pharmacovigilance. I also collaborate with other teams within the business unit and with other divisions to provide information and services. I assist our Medical Director in the medical aspect by taking part in actualizing trainings for our Marketing team and healthcare partners.

Walk Down Memory Lane

I was a casual employee at the Quality Assurance (QA) Division when I first started working in Unilab. After my contract ended, I applied for a regular position in the same division and was hired two months after. I was ecstatic and thankful to God for making my dream of working in Unilab come true. My mom was a Unilab Warrior herself and whenever she brought us to Unilab events, I already felt the Bayanihan spirit. I told myself that I, too, would work in Unilab someday. I pursued a Pharmacy course in college because I envisioned a future in Unilab.

I started out in QA in 1995 as an Assistant QA Inspector. The work unit where I belonged was then transferred to different divisions, but I basically had the same job function. Later, I was cross-posted to ULCH and this experience encouraged me to try something new. I wanted to learn more and better understand the marketing and business side to give essence to the technical function of my work. Thus, when I was given the chance to transfer back to ULCH, I seized the opportunity to broaden my horizon.

Evolving with Unilab

Being in Unilab for 25 years, I’ve become more agile, especially in determining priorities. I have developed my skill in managing risks and making decisions effectively. Through the years, the significant milestones gave me a better understanding in essential areas and helped me become more efficient, focused, and effective. These changes made me recognize my strengths and weaknesses as well.

My greatest achievements throughout my career are being a Unilab TOPs (The Outstanding Performer) Awardee, and at the same time, a Team TOPS Awardee for three teams in the same year. I was able to achieve these with the support of my superior and team members aside from being motivated to work on the attainment of the teams’ goals.

Bayanihan through the years

My perspective on Bayanihan and Husay at Malasakit has not changed. In fact, this culture has surfaced even more over the years. This is very evident, especially in the business unit where I am now. Seeing and feeling this in the workplace motivates me to live and embody it.
