Creating an application that can be utilized by everyone! It serves a great deal of fulfillment for me.

What do you do at your job?

I’m currently working as iOS Engineer at Vidio. Vidio is an Indonesia-based Over-the-Top (OTT) video streaming service whose contents consist of free-to-air and subscription channels, live streaming, films and dramas, and television. As an iOS Engineer, I make codes and do pair programming based on the Story given, as well as work closely with other teams, such as the Product and Designer Team. I also ensure that all tasks are working accordingly in my team. Teenagers can understand my role if they’re familiar with basic coding and analytics, as well as a good interest in mobile programming.

What's your background?

I live in Bekasi and Jakarta - I go side-to-side between the two cities every now and then. I went to Institut Pertanian Bogor, majoring in Computer Science. After graduating from college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Mobile Software Engineering. In 2016, I decided to join Vidio, which was a big turning point in my life. From a person who lacks a figure to look up to back in the time, I met such a great mentor who can facilitate my growth and personal development at Vidio. I’m very grateful to be here.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes! We have some people here whose background education is not majoring in Computer Science or IT. I believe that, as long as they’re persistent and have a big urge to learn, they would be able to do the job. Additionally, they need to have great analytical and logical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.

What do you think is the coolest thing about your job?

Creating an application that can be utilized by everyone! It serves a great deal of fulfillment for me. To be precise, I really enjoy making codes. Through the process, I get to understand that every problem has its own solution - that it’s not a one size fits all problem. Not only that, we also maintain a work-life balance condition in our team. I’m very comfortable with our work culture.

What are the drawbacks of your job?

Since the development of the IT industry is very fast-paced, if you’re not a lifelong learner, you may find it difficult to catch up with the latest trend. You’re gonna miss out on a lot of opportunities in this field, like the latest tools, applications, knowledge, et cetera.

What suggestions you would like to give yourself?

  1. Start learning about Software Development NOW. Do not be busy chasing other less important things.
  2. Don’t easily get satisfied with your achievements! Your journey doesn’t end there.
  3. Self-confidence is the key to success. Comparing yourself to other people is not the best way to gain confidence remember that each and every one of us has our own strengths.
