Alarm Goes Off - Let's be real, I am not jumping out of bed right away.

6.30 AM

Get Out of Bed - I've had my 2 snoozes (yes, I take this into account when setting my alarm and yes, it still makes me feel better). While I'm getting ready for the day, my cat is happily snoozing away.

Leave the House - My bus stop is 100m away from my house, so I am on time for the 7.43 bus!

Reach the Office - The bright red W lets me know I’ve made it!

I make my way up to the secured zone and say hi to my team. A secured zone is an area where only the teams working in that area have access to enter. This is to mitigate the risk of something being said in an online meeting being overheard by someone that really does not need to know.

I get in the office and say hi to my people leader (who has set very high standards by being an amazing people leader). She let me know that it’s one of my colleague’s birthday yesterday and the bakery was closed when she tried to buy a cake. I’ve already set up my station, so I offer to run to a florist and get some flowers. Found a beautiful bouquet and we’re ready to wish Maria a happy birthday.

Team Huddle - Each of my immediate team goes through what they’ve been working on and any obstacles they may face. This allows us to see if anyone else’s work may be useful to our own and also bounce ideas of each other. Our biggest project is currently the simplification of one of our policies. That means the team works together to analyse, breakdown and rewrite a complicated policy to create a better experience for our bankers.  It’s also super helpful in catching up with everyone’s lives outside of work!

10:00 AM

Second Huddle - During the second half of my rotation, I am working with another team to create a process map to see what happens to pull together a monthly credit report. It requires data across multiple business divisions and currently has very short deadlines. I am working with another team member to map what the current process is to identify any pain points and what can be simplified to create a more seamless process. This is our first task where we’re the leads, so we meet up every week to discuss our plan of action and review our work. We’re presenting to our steering committee (which is made of more senior team members) to make sure we’re on the right track.

11.00 AM - 12.00 PM

Work Time - There’s a short break between meetings to incorporate feedback into my tasks so I’m ready to present them in the afternoon.

1.00 PM

Lunch! - We had a team lunch and chatted about what we did over the Easter break. I was so focused on food and conversation.

1.30 PM - 2.45 PM

Another task I’m working on is to refresh the Credit Risk intranet pages. I’m going to be taking a training course on how to edit our intranet pages, so we have a better idea of what’s in our scope!

2.45 PM - 3:00 PM

Quick break between meetings - I head to the bathroom and grab some water off my desk before jumping into my next meeting room.

3.00 PM - 4.00 PM

Credit Report Committee - Remember when I said the task which was to create a data tracing artefact was the first task I was leading? To make sure my team member and I are heading in the right direction and have the right support, we present our work to an unofficial committee. They allow a bigger group to brainstorm with and can point out which teams in the bank would be helpful.

4.00 PM - 5.00 PM

Smash a couple of items off the to-do list - Now that all the meetings are done for the day, I can get cracking on a couple of things that’s been added to my to-do list. Send out a few emails and we’re good to go.

5.00 PM

Wish Maria - It’s been a busy day for my team as well! As we start winding down, aSl of us are finally free to wish Maria a Happy Birthday.
