What are we looking for?
There’s no typical White & Case intern or trainee, in fact, we actively seek out people with a range of attributes to further enhance our already globally diverse teams. In saying that, alongside academic excellence, there are certain attributes that we know are proven for success:
You have a global mindset: An interest in working globally and cross-cultural awareness is essential for the work we advise on, the nature of our clients, and the diversity within our teams.
You are driven to succeed: Like us, you’re not afraid of hard work and you’re dedicated to achieving great results. You have the ambition to be a successful global lawyer.
You’re a team player: We act as one Firm and one team and look to recruit trainees with the same collegial outlook.
You take initiative: You ask meaningful questions and seek feedback on your work, with the intention of constant improvement.
You’re client-focused: Our interns and trainees are exposed to clients from the very beginning. They’ll come to depend on your focus on detail and simplifying the complex
You have integrity: We have a global reputation for first-class legal work, and you’ll work towards building and maintaining trust with our clients and your colleagues.

I'm a graduate in the M&A and will be responsible for due diligence for a deal. Due diligence could include conducting relevant searches of the target company and review corporate documents.
My responsibilities are varied which makes it very engaging. I have the opportunity to work with partners, senior associates and other junior lawyers which makes the work rewarding.
Legal work - lots of client interaction and managing documents. No two days are the same.

Law
White & Case is a global elite law firm with a top-tier Australian offering.
Rewarding and challenging work means I'm learning every day, and the seniors have been happy to help at every turn
Quality of the work, exposure to industry-leading matters, ownership, and responsibility over the work.
I really enjoy the international aspect and being able to work with people globally.
The culture! People here are extremely friendly and willing to teach.
Lots of opportunity to take on real responsibility and speak directly with clients, from the very beginning.
Truly international law firm means that you may have to work outside normal hours, especially if you're working on projects with teams in Europe or the USA.
The hours can be long - especially on overseas deals.
There is minimal after hours interaction, perhaps both due to it being a smaller office in Sydney and due to the workload.
Bureaucracy
Can also be tough to organise outside activities, because everybody is on different schedules
