Wondering who tops the list of law firms employing graduates?

Here's a clue or two based on what our research says about the popularity and quality of programs offered by 10 top tier law firms.

Want the nuts and bolts behind our methodology? Here you go

Ok, to trust us? Read on.

First up, the givens.

No matter where you launch your legal career, you’ll be:

  • Working long hours for (mostly) a market rate salary, with zero or little access to bonuses
  • Navigating wildly differing team cultures
Organisational culture counts, but it’s principally the texture of team culture - hierarchical or flat, open or closed door, flexible or fixed, that’ll shape your experience.
  • Enjoying the same set of perks – gym memberships, free meals, and cabs home when you work late
  • Doing a mix of structured and informal training rotating through between 3 and 6 teams that may or may not include the option of overseas or interstate secondments

The good news

If you’re keen to:

  • Have a healthy career as well as a long one
All of these firms offset the impact of marathon stints to meet intense deadlines with flexible hours and the right to work from home

  • Make the world a kinder, fairer, greener place

Super strong corporate social responsibility and deeply satisfying pro bono opportunities are here in spades

Scan the numbers, trust your gut

Numbers-wise, not much separates the top 10. The ratings range from 7.5 – to 9.1 /10. But who doesn't love a percentage point?

But the point is, while you’re pondering the space between two percentage points, your gut is perusing reviews and sneak peeks. On balance, go with your gut.
