Application Process & Interviews at Akuna Capital

Two rounds of mental maths and programming interviews. Another three rounds of phone/video interviews.

A few online quizzes, followed by a technical phone screen, then another harder technical phone screen followed by a behavioral interview. The Recruitment team is very helpful if you have questions.

Interviewed for two roles, turnaround time was quick. All interviews were online because of Covid.

Online Math/Coding Test and Personality Test -> Phone Interview -> Final Round

Math / stats / probability / game questions.

EV calculations Financial questions (what's the value of the SnP right now etc.)

Lots of probability based questions. Maths related brain teasers.

Various math puzzles, most involving probability and variance.

The typical data structure and algorithm type questions you would expect, however there was a 'trading' twist to most of them.

Some software development questions, basic linear algebra/machine learning questions, and questions about my own research experience

Brush up on your maths + stats. Practice mental math for trading.

Show intellectual curiosity. Read up on basic statistics and be familiar with expected value problems. Demonstrate an interest in financial markets

Review your probability. Don't be afraid if you can't answer the question straight away. You are also being assessed on how quickly you can respond to hints given by the interviewer and how you can logically think on your feet under pressure.

Be comfortable with basic probability. Working out/estimating expected value and variance

Study hard! :) Try and practice a broad range of topics and make sure you know your chosen language well. How it works under the hood etc.

Know the requirements of your role, be prepared to explain your thought process. Have a good understanding of expected value and probability
