Real life endorsements

Here's what Christian Beddoe, one of our former interns says about the program:

“As an intern I was able to do real work that added value to the business, while growing my knowledge base and preparing myself for the next step in my career. Meanwhile, I was surrounded by an amazing, supportive team, who genuinely wanted to see me succeed. The social events were also a great opportunity to meet new people outside of my team, and were lots of fun too”

Apart from my daily tasks, the day-to-day tasks depend on what my team and buddy is working on at the time so they can vary. As we approach Christmas I would like to be busier however understand this is a quiet time for the industry.

The tasks vary between admin work and interesting work. However there is a conscious effort among support teams to reduce the admin work-load.

Ad-hoc tasks include preparing letters and documents, responding to emails, receiving calls, completing ATO lodgements. A major on-going task involves preparing funds for the financial year.

Pros and cons of working at E&P Financial Group

Pros

  • The best aspect of working here is the culture.

  • Working within the team is the best part at working at E&P. The team is friendly and supportive - there is always someone available to help. I also receive regular feedback and great tips to help improve my work.

  • - Competitive graduate salary - Clear promotion criteria - Good culture.

  • - The knowledge I have gained, it has been a great learning experience - The people and company culture - Access to morning meetings where I learn more about the economy on a macro and micro level - My team's devoted efforts to ensure I take the most I can from this experience e.g. watching them conduct trades, and attending client meetings.

  • In the program, they are giving me valuable work and in-depth feedback so I can get the most out of the internship program.

Cons

    • Lots of admin work.

    • Two presentations. I can understand that the skillset is needed for the job however considering its unsettling nature I think 1 is sufficient.

    • Not many opportunities for remote work - however very positive culture inside the office.

    • As we approach Christmas I would like to be busier however understand this is a quiet time for the industry.

    • The training program is thoughtful, designed to keep the interns busy and concurrently educated. In terms of feedback, I think two presentations is excessive given the small role as an intern.
