Are you someone looking to learn or develop skills in the People / Human Resources field? Police Bank is looking for a part-time People Operations Assistant to join our growing Support Office in Surry Hills 3 days a week. 

About the role:

We’ve got an exciting position within our People team, and we’re looking for an ambitious person who is ready to kick-start their career in one of Australia’s fastest growing Mutual Banks.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to become a people/human resources superstar and support the effective and efficient delivery of the operational activities of the Division. Your activities may include assisting in learning and development, WHS, industrial employee relations, remuneration and benefits, performance management, recruitment and reporting.

The People Division is a broad and collaborative team that includes the Product, Marketing Partnerships and Engagement departments, meaning the successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of Bank processes by assisting with administrative and project work in these areas.

What will you be doing?

Provide accurate, confidential and professional administrative support across the People Division for employees in Police Bank.

Demonstrate lateral thinking when completing day-to-day tasks and problem-solving.

Provide superior internal service in the execution of all tasks by displaying courtesy and responsiveness.

Assist with the administration of People processes including performance review, probation review, recruitment, remuneration and other processes as required.

Assist with the administration, reporting and research requirements of Product, Marketing and Partnerships and Engagement as required.

Maintain People records by ensuring they are kept up to date and correct.

Demonstrate eagerness with digital systems and processes.

Undertake other duties as required by your manager or their delegate.

Adhere to all WHS requirements of the organisation and relevant associated legislation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Detailed understanding of the use of MS Office programs.
  • Demonstrated high-Level digital skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity about day-to-day work activities and how they have been improved as a result of the curiosity.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability or willingness to understand the underpinning principles that apply to the work of the People Division.
  • Demonstrated willingness to embrace organisational change including the use of modern technology and an ability to analyse and problem-solve in the context of change and continuous improvement.

The following skills are an advantage:

Experience or knowledge with an HRIS and or LMS

Various ad hoc tasks as well as offboarding and liaising with stakeholders both internal and external on projects and tasks. Heavy use of LMS system daily which I run reports and assign training on.

General HR Responsibilities along with Product responsibilities occasionally. Majority of my day to day is L&D and WHS focused HR along with ad hoc HR and a slight level of being involved in creating recruitment pieces and Product duties.

Pros

  • Nice culture, everyone is very welcoming and management seems to have a genuine interest in my career.

  • General exposure to a number of different areas of business as it is a smaller business than large corporations.

  • The opportunity and exposure to work on multiple projects.

  • The work culture.

  • The team culture is great, and overall a nice work environment.

Cons

    • I'd say the only negative would be the salary being quite low in comparison to the industry average and for my department there being limited progression to a higher role.

    • Smaller business also comes with more workload when taking on additional tasks.

    • The salary is very low
