Please comment on your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
Tech is great, as are practices. The overall goal of the website isn't saving lives or anything though so can be a little unfulfilling

As a UX Design graduate, the day-to-day responsibilities literally change each day, with the ultimate goal towards creating and validating delightful experiences for the end user. I think largely, the role is great but what you learn on the job is mostly, if not entirely, determined by the rotation and timing of certain product decisions. As a result, some of the learning you were interested in gets pushed back while learning other (still very relevant) parts of the role.

My role is a mixture of front and back-end web development. Day-to-day I implement new features and maintain existing ones on REAs internal platforms and products, which can include data pipelines, design systems, or customer facing products like realestate.com.au. Much of the work is done in pairs or with substantial collaboration in technical decision-making. Some teams feature close collaboration between design and development, while in others the processes remain distinct and the teams are less cross-functional. Degrees of autonomy fluctuate team-by-team, both in terms of development at the individual level and degree of control the team as a whole has over the direction of the products/services they're building.
