The Story of Roche Australia

Roche is one of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies headquartered in Switzerland. It is a leader in research-focused healthcare with two core business areas: pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. They are a leader in diabetes management, tissue-based cancer diagnostics, and in-vitro diagnostics. Their products include thirty-two medicines that are included in the WHO’s Model Lists of Essential Medicines.

Roche has been operating in Australia for more than 65 years and works across three business divisions: Roche Diagnostics, Roche Diabetes Care, and Roche Pharmaceuticals.

The diagnostics division provides laboratory services for customers, including hospitals, physicians, private commercial laboratories, and patients with conditions requiring them to self-test. Roche Diabetes Care supports people with diabetes in Australia by providing resources to help them manage their condition and improved therapy outcomes.

The pharmaceutical division is dedicated to the sales, distribution, and registration of pharmaceutical medicines, as well as local pharmaceutical research and development. They provide 49 Roche medicines for Australian patients and are currently a leading provider of cancer medicines in Australia by sales.
