Application Process & Interviews at Steadfast Group

9.0
9.0 rating for Recruitment, based on 6 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
I really appreciate the face to face element in the interview process. The HR team make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The only downside is the video interviews as it is quite daunting and makes me nervous to where I cannot properly conduct myself in the way I usually do. It is also weird speaking to a laptop.

The process was very smooth and the interviewers did their best to ensure I was comfortable to reduce those interview nerves in order to get to know me properly.

The initial interview was by phone and then progressed to an in-person meeting at Steadfast's office with the HR manager. The final interview was a panel interview, followed by a short essay question.
Midlevel, Sydney
The interview process comprised of four stages: a video assessment, an interview with former graduates, a meeting with HR along with a mini essay, and a final interview with the CEO. While this may seem intimidating, Steadfast succeeded in establishing a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the interviews, where the focus was simply on getting to know you.

The interview process was very smooth. It is a true standout in comparison to other graduate program recruitment processes. There was an online video application where you are asked basic questions about yourself & then 2 in person interviews. In the second interview, I answered a long response question which I was given the brief 1 week before, so I had time to prepare my answer.

Quick, personal, flexible and friendly. When arranging times to be interviews they worked around my schedule.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
The interview was almost conversational, as it was at first getting to know me, and my experience. I was asked some behavioural questions which I was able to reflect on past experiences.
Graduate, Sydney
Questions were more focused on behavorial style rather than technical.

I was asked a range of questions; from personal questions about my background and hobbies to questions about how I'd respond in difficult situations in the workplace.
Midlevel, Sydney
The questions spanned a wide range of topics, including past work experiences, hobbies, and an exploration of your personality. It was intriguing because the interview process delved beyond just work-related aspects and aimed to uncover various facets of your personality and interests.

You will be asked general questions about your degree, work experience. But they don't ask questions about your insurance knowledge as they know you are new. They want to see whether you align to their values. You can teach insurance, but you cannot teach someone how to be a good person.
Graduate, Sydney
Behavioural based questions targeted at relevant competencies that are important to the role.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Not knowing much about insurance is okay! Just make sure to highlight the talent you would bring to the company, whether that be your strengths from past experiences or your character.
Graduate, Sydney
Just be yourself and show enthusiasm.

I'd recommend candidates research Steadfast in detail as it is a large and diverse organisation. Candidates should be relaxed and themselves in interviews.
Midlevel, Sydney
Be prepared to showcase your strengths through specific examples from your past experiences that highlight how you align with Steadfast's culture and values. Most importantly, during the interview process, be authentic and true to yourself, as your genuine self is what they are looking to get to know.
