A Day in the Life at Services Australia

I’m invited to a meeting with my Director and National Manager. They’re looking for information on the agency’s historic expenditure and extrapolating future expenditure while analysing trends and noting key findings. I note their requirements and we discuss timeframes.

I have been allocated a new task that requires a review of staff working patterns across numerous groups and divisions in the agency. I open my trusty spreadsheets and work on this throughout the day between meetings.

I jump back into the social media responding application and continue replying to customers asking questions on our social media channels. This is a great task to do since it shows first-hand what our customers are asking. I also learn more about the payments and services our agency offers.

I continue with the analysis of online access level problems. I save important data steps to ensure I am ready to continue with the analysis tomorrow. I debrief with my Team Leader on my initial findings in the data.

At the end of the day, I respond to any outstanding emails and look ahead to tomorrow. I look at the items remaining on my to-do list and plan for meetings scheduled for the next day.

Our Deputy General Counsel advises they’ve reviewed the advice I sent to them this morning. I incorporate their changes into the advice and send it to our client.

After I get back from lunch, I finish off compiling the requested feedback changes. My manager suggests I remind our stakeholders that all feedback needs to be in by the end of the week. My manager gives me some advice on how to approach this.
